Founded in 1982, iEcon is the largest franchised mini-mart chain with 85 stores islandwide, it was developed as a voluntary chain concept to assist provision shop owners facing difficulties due to modernisation: the rapid increase in supermarket outlets; loss of long-standing customers due to relocation to new housing estates; business discontinuity due to old age; pricing that is not competitive and lack of support and attention from suppliers.
The iEcon concept allowed these provision shops to be restructured with a common, well-defined direction and revitalisation in order to stay competitive. Based on 4 principles, iEcon aimed to offer competitive pricing; a comfortable shopping environment; friendly personnel and most importantly, a convenient location.
Strategically located in the heartlands and close to the consumers, iEcon provides not just shopping conveniences for household and grocery items, but also essential services such as bill payments via AXS, Nets, cash card top-up, EZ-Link services, EPINS, iCash and prepaid SIM card registration.
In 2013, a monthly newsletter called iEconomy was launched to engage readers with product information and promotions, company news and activities, recipes, household tips and contests. The newsletter is distributed door-to-door within the proximity of every iEcon outlet.
With its strong brand name and operational expertise, iEcon’s franchisees can tap on Hanwell’s well-established supply chain, information management and operating systems, as well as marketing and promotion support to ensure the success of their retail business.
iEcon will continue to serve our customers by offering value for money, convenience, friendly and personalised service.
